Question

TT added MA state tax on a backdoor Roth. Trad-IRA has $0. $7K went in and to Roth. TT added hundreds to MA state tax, though BDR was with *after-tax* $. How to correct?

Have done backdoor Roth for some years and never had this issue that it added state tax (incorrect) and not federal (correct). There appears to be no way to fix in the 1099-R screens. How to correct? Thanks -

    In the Massachusetts section of TurboTax, you must enter the Other Contributions Previously Taxed by Massachusetts to subtract out the income.
