Preparing tax return for my teen aged daughter. TT is calculating a tax due of $9349 on taxable income of just $2139. How can that be? Have gone over all inputs multiple times for accuracy. Can't figure out what is going so wrong??
Total income: $6537
Deductions: -$4398
Taxes:  $9355

Just prepared sim return for my son and everything was fine and rational with a tax due of $0 on sim income.

Clear and start over in your return to start fresh. You are right, you shouldn't owe that much tax.  In your return, go to;

  • Tax tools
  • Clear and Start over
