TT says, a monthly pension payment includes an RMD. Is the entire annual benefit an RMD, or only part? If only part, can I make less of an withdrawal from an IRA?

No.   The RMD requirements for a pension and IRA cannot be combined.   The IRA RMD is calculated on the 2016 year end value of all Traditional IRA's.    Pensions have their own separate RMD requirements - monthly pension payments are automatically the RMD amount.
