The form 1099-R should include the amount of tax withheld from your IRA distribution. This amount can be found in Box 4 for federal tax and Box 12 for state tax. This needs to be entered into TurboTax when you enter the 1099-R.

Please follow these instructions to edit your Form 1099-R :

    • Login to your TurboTax Account
    • Click "Take Me To My Return"
    • Click "Federal" from the left side of your screen
    • Scroll down and click "Edit/Add" next to "IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
    • On the "Your 1099-R Entries" screen click "Edit" next to the 1099-R, you wish to edit.
