When I enter the gross distribution from my IRA using the form sent to me by the Bank,  I enter the amount of the taxable part of the distribution which is "0"  Intuit error check says it can't be "0"

The step by step guide does ask if was a charitable distribution, which all of it is

Your software people need to get this corrected

TurboTax sometimes doesn't accept a "0" entry in the software for certain sections of the Tax return. Remove the "0" and keep it blank.

This is not a TurboTax problem. You must enter the Form 1099-R exactly as received, including the amount shown in box 2a of the Form 1099-R provided by the payer.  You then must mark the box to indicate that the distribution was transferred to charity and the amount that was transferred to charity.  TurboTax will include the entire gross amount on line 4a but will exclude from line 4b with the "QCD" notation the amount transferred to charity.

I did all that before I made this post and it still shows up as an error

Delete the offending 1099-R form and reenter it, making sure that the amount that you enter in box 2a is the same as the amount in box 1, the same as it appears on the Form 1099-R provided by the payer.
