Question

Turbo Tax seems to have a bug. I chose 1099-S for capital gains from land transaction, it always brings up 1099-B instead.

It goes on the sch D (like a stock sale) and the entry looks just the same.

The sale of land will go under investments. Follow these steps with some variation depending on the program:

    1. Open to federal income
    2. Locate investments
    3. Select stocks, bonds, second, home, other
    4. Select Other - land, second home, personal items
    5. Along the way you will skip import and choose to type it in manually.
    6. Enter information. When you select the drop down box you will see two options for land - personal and investment.
    7. Continue moving forward.
