Question

Turbo tax states that my employer withheld too much Social security tx , however it calculates to about 6% when I do it manually. Can turbo tax be calculating wrong?

How many W-2s do you have? What are the entries in box 4 for each one? Do you have a Schedule C and SE? If so, what is the amount of SE tax on Schedule SE?

 

With so many millions of returns run through TurboTax, it is unlikely that TurboTax is doing this calculation incorrectly.
