TurboTax is not accepting my 1099-NEC. Why is this happening?

It depends on where you are trying to enter it. It is considered self-employment income.

If you entered Form 1099-NEC early on and are now returning to TurboTax, delete it completely and re-enter it.

If you are just now entering Form 1099-NEC, enter it directly in the self-employment income & expenses section.

To do this in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:

1. From the left menu, select Tax Tools.
2. Select Tools.
3. Scroll to Delete a Form.
4. Scroll to Form 1099-NEC and select Delete and Delete Selected Form and Continue.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the next window and select Continue With My Return.

Next, go to the search box and enter schedule c and select the Jump to link in the search results. Enter it as COMMON INCOME.
