Question

turbotax not recognizing the 1099-R 7 G code. I am having this included as income and it was a rollover. I have heard this is a turbotax problem.

Instructions for Box 7 G indicate it is a distribution to a qualified plan. Not income but my turbo tax is including it as income.

A code of G in box 7 of the Form 1099-R will be accepted by the TurboTax program.

Delete the 1099-R and re-enter manually to correct the error.

Yes, it should not be income...and on my test, it is not. So now time for few questions:

    1. Did this 1099-R come from "a qualified plan, a section 403(b) plan, or a governmental section 457(b) plan" or from an IRA?
    2. How did you answer "Rollover of 401(k) to Roth 401(k)"?

    3. How did you answer "Was the money rolled over to a Roth IRA"?

    4. How did you answer the disaster distribution questions?

    5. Are you using the CD/download version of TurboTax or the Online version?
