Question

TurboTax says I need to list a second state ID number on my 1099-K, but there isn't one. What do I do?

I live in Illinois, but have a primary job in Tennessee. My W2 is listed for TN, but the 1099 is for hobby income in Illinois. It only came with Illinois state ID info, but TurboTax says I need to list a second state, even though I don't have information for a second state. What am I supposed to do to rectify this?

If Illinois is your state of residence and the IRS form 1099-K reports Illinois income in boxes 6 and 7, the income likely should be reported on your Illinois resident state income tax return.

In what area of the tax software are you being asked about a second state?  Are you being asked under State Taxes down the left side of the screen?  Under Wages & Income down the left side of the screen?
