Verifying RMD taken on deceased taxpayer

Part of my deceased father's 2024 RMD was dispensed to the adult children inheriting his assets. 1099-R forms were issued for the three children that received the distributions. How do I show on my father's tax return that his entire RMD was satisfied? What was dispensed to him while he was alive is different that the required total RMD.  The remainder was dispensed to his children.

The IRS just wants to verify that all RMD's were taken. You can enter that he took the full amount while he was living. Taking less than the full RMD would trigger penalties, which is not right in this case.

Select yes to full RMD and enter all of the distribution was RMD. This just allows the program to move on without trying to tax the money. It doesn't affect your actual tax form.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
