We are both on Social Security do we file taxes on that this year for 2023?

If social security is your only income, you do not need to file taxes. if you have other income other than social security to report, you may need to file depending on the amount and type of income. 

 

For an example, if you have other income other than social security and If you are married and file a joint return with a spouse who's also 65 or older, then you combine the other income plus 1/2 of your social security income. If this amounts to $30,700 or more, then you have a filing requirement.
