What additional documents (W-2, 1099-B, etc.) need to be included with the 1040 forms when filing with the IRS?

It depends. If you are mailing your tax return you must always include a copy of all W-2s. The only other documents that need to go with the tax return are those that have any federal withholding. The same would apply for your state return unless TurboTax provides additional details about forms you should send.

If you are sending your return(s) through e-file you do not need to send any forms unless instructed. Occasionally 1099-Bs are requested such as when summary totals are used.
