What and where is the payer's TIN on a 1099-B form ?

The payer's TIN on Form 1099-B is the Federal ID number for the financial institution issuing Form 1099-B.  

 

It may have the description Federal ID instead of TIN somewhere on the form.  There is not a set location to find it, but it is usually in the heading area near the financial institution's name.  It will be in the format xx-xxxxxxx, with all numbers.
