It sounds like you imported your Form 1099-B.  If the transactions were reported on a Form 1099-B, that form would tell you which category to select for your transactions.  If you don't have a copy you can download the form from your broker's website.  You could have multiple categories on the same Form 1099-B.  If the transactions were not reported on a Form 1099-B, the transaction type would either be "Short-term transactions not reported to you on Form 1099-B" if you held the position one year or less. or "Long-term transactions not reported to you on Form 1099-B" if you held the position more than one year.
