You will report your income or loss from the business you operated as a sole proprietor on Schedule C.

Your Business income or loss goes on schedule 1(form 1040) line 3. Amount of all additional income goes on your 1040( individual income tax return) line 8.

    Sole proprietorships

To report your income, check: How do I report income from self-employment?

A portion of Social Security Income may be taxable.

To determine if your benefits are taxable, you should take half of the Social Security money they collected during the year and add it to their other income. Other income includes pensions, wages, interest, dividends and capital gains.

    • If you are single and that total comes to more than $25,000, then part of your Social Security benefits may be taxable.
    • If you are married filing jointly, you should take half of their Social Security, plus half of their spouse's Social Security, and add that to all your combined income. If that total is more than $32,000, then part of your Social Security may be taxable.

Taxable amount goes on form 1040 line 6b

When you report your income, TurboTax will automatically calculate the taxable amount.
