Question

When entering my income on my son's return it said taxable income line 11b. i put in adjusted gross income line 11. taxable income is line 15. How do I change that?

I Ican't figure out how to get back to that area to change my income to what is on line 15 which is the actual taxable income if that is indeed what I need to do

If you have the Desktop version of TurboTax there is a label in the top right corner that says Step by Step.  If you click that it will return you to the input section of the tax return.

 

If you are in the Online version of TurboTax, and you're viewing the 1040.  You will click the BACK  button on the banner on the left.

 

Line 15 on Form 1040 is Taxable Income.  It is the sum of:

  • Wages
  • Interest & Dividends
  • Pensions & Social Security
  • Capital Gains
  • and Other income including Self-employment.

Any of these could affect Box 15
