When I imported my 1099R from my broker Turbotax will NOT let me enter the amount sent to charity

It depends. If you are unable to enter your qualified charitable distribution (QCD) with the import, and the instructions below, you may need to delete it and enter it manually.

• What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?

1. Enter the information into the return, make sure you will check the IRA/SIMPLE/SEP box.
2. There will be a follow-up screen entitled do any of these situations apply to you? Here you will indicate you transferred this to charity.
3. Then it will ask you what your RMD distribution was for the year.
4. Lastly it will ask how much of this was transferred to charity.? Here you will list the full amount if this is the case.
