When is the optimal time for me to take SS? I am 66, mostly retired (consulting brings in ~$12,000 annually). My husband is 74, retired, gets SS and his RMDs. We don't need my SS, and our state (KS) taxes it, so I could easily wait until 70. However, I am wondering if getting it at my FRA is a smarter move, as there is a lot of talk about future reductions in SS benefits.
