UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION

Unemployment compensation is taxable on your federal return.

You will have to enter a 1099G that is issued by your state.

Some states will mail out the 1099G.  Or you might need to go to your state’s unemployment website and use the password, etc. that you have been using to certify for weekly benefits to get your 1099G from the state’s site.

Enter your 1099G in Federal>Wages & Income>Unemployment

Go through the screens very carefully, making sure to enter any federal/state tax you had withheld from the unemployment.

It is shown on the Form 1099-G that you received from your state.  Listed as Payer's TIN on the form.

WHAT A WORTHLESS Q& A WEBSITE.

Easy questions, obfuscated answers.

Where are your so-called "experts?"

This person asked for a PAYER ID.

Instead of an answer they get UNRELATED WORD SALAD.

As I'm finding is status quo.

TAXES, TURBOTAX, GOVERNMENT ... you ALL suck.

April 14, 2021

I am having the same issue. AZ's 1099-G does not list "payer ID' or 'payer TIN" and Turbo Tax gives me an error whenever I enter the numbers they did use. So frustrating.

April 14, 2021

Did you find your answer? TurboTax won't accept any of the numbers listed on the AZ 1099-G. I hope you had better luck than I did.

Did you try this EIN?  Our Federal Employer ID Number is 74-2652689.   Found this number too - FEIN: 86-036959.  This number was shown also: State ID #07-506284E

@sls50211  YES!!!  The second and third numbers you listed were on the 1099-G (and both were rejected). That first one worked, and now I have submitted my taxes. THANK YOU!  May you have an amazing day! 🙂

Anyone have the one for Washington state?

January 13, 2022

The best resource to obtain the federal employer identification number for the Washington state Form 1099-G is the link below.  There is a phone number that may be useful and/or a way to print out your document which will include the payer ID.  If you have an eservices account you can log into that for the document as well.

February 25, 2022

It may be referred to on your 1099-G as 'Payer's TIN' or 'Federal Identification Number (FEIN)' (see screenshot).

Did you get a 1099G?  See the posts above with pictures.

The Iowa Workforce Devlopment 1099-G looks nothing like those forms and has no State ID number listed anywhere. I'm assuming the other states have the same issue. If anyone has the Iowa number I could certainly use it...

YES! Thank you! I just finally got a call back from them and you are correct. Why that number is not on the form is beyond me.
