Can I file this as a CSA 1099R when it plainly shows only 1099R?

No, enter as a 1099-R. It will be entered under Retirement Plans section of the Income and Expenses. When you add the 1099-R. Military retirees receive a 1099-R tax form. Refer to the DFAS website Getting Your 1099-R for more information.

Follow the steps below to enter your 1099-R:

  1. Select Federal
  2. Select Income and Expenses
  3. Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
  4. Select Start or Update by IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R).

Refer to the TurboTax Help article Where do I enter my 1099-R? for more information.

i.e.   Delete the  CSA-1099-R form you have input already.

.....then re-enter it manually, typing in the data.

DO NOT try to upload a picture or a PDF of your 1099-R form...that's the source of many form errors.

Just type it in, using your paper copy for reference.
