Why am I being asked about a 1099-R

Form 1099-R is used to report a distribution from a pension plan. It is possible that you had that in a previous year and the blank entry form is being carried over to your current year tax return. 

 

If you aren't reporting any distribution from a pension plan this year (401-K, IRA, company pension), then you can delete the 1099-R form from your program by using the following menu tabs in TurboTax:

  1. Tax tools (on the left menu bar)
  2. Tools
  3. Delete a form

Find form 1099-R in the list and delete the form.
