Why can't I add my retirement plan contribution to my return?

If you have an employer sponsored tax deferred retirement plan, your contributions are entered on your 2023 W-2 in box 12.  They are not entered anywhere else on a tax return.

Why do you think you cannot add it?  What exactly are you trying to add?

To clarify, did you make a contribution on your own or did an employer make it on your behalf? if you contributed money on your own, what type of a plan is it? Is it a IRA contribution or a Roth IRA contribution?
