Why can't I enter both codes listed in box 7 on my form 1099-R?

This is an annuity that my husband inherited from his mother. The letter/numbers in box 7 Form 1099-R are 4D. The program only allows me to enter either #4 or the letter D, but not both.

4D is the combination of 2 codes, 4 and D. You should enter them both.

 

In TurboTax Online, on the entry screen of form 1099-R, put a checkmark on I have more than one value in Box 7. A second Box 7 will appear and you can enter the two codes, one in each box. The order doesn’t matter; TurboTax will make sure you get the right results either way.
