Question

Why can't I see my estimated tax refund while I"m working? I used to be able to see the effects of contributing more or less to an HSA or IRA (for example).

This year, because so many people were getting confused and upset by watching the Refund Meter too closely, the designers changed TurboTax so that the Refund Meter did not appear until you had made a first pass through the tax return.

 

Try going to the Federal Review, running it, and see if the Refund Meter appears then.
