Why is my deceased mother paying Louisiana State Taxes? She was a retired teacher who passed away 4-28-2023?

My mother was a retired teacher, why is she having to pay Louisiana State taxes?

No one here can see or access any tax returns to answer your question with certainty. However, if there was income received prior to your mother's date of death that was reported on the Louisiana tax return and there was not enough state withholding up to that point, then there could be a balance due for the state tax return.
