Please make sure you have already included those in your income. Form SSA-1099 will show how much benefits were paid to you during the year.

Please follow the steps below to enter your Social Security Benefits in TurboTax:

  1. Select Tax Home on the left side menu.
  2. Select Income & Expenses on the main screen and then select "Work on other Income"
  3. Scroll down, or expand the list and find Retirement Plans and Social Security.
  4. Expand that section and find Social Security(SSA-1099). Press the Start Button next to it and fill out the relevant information.

Once you fill that out, Social Security Benefits will be included in your Income.

Additionally, please refer to the image below for further reference.

Please visit Steps of entering Form SSA-1099 in TurboTax for more information on how to enter the form details in TurboTax.

Once you have entered all the information, you can view your return or just your 1040 form before you e-file to make sure the numbers which are being used for calculation seem reasonable.

Please follow the steps below:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Select Tax Tools in the left menu (if you don't see this, select the menu icon in the upper-left corner).
  3. With the Tax Tools menu open, you can then:
    • Preview your entire return: Select Print Center and then Print, Save, or Preview This Year's Return (you may be asked to register or pay first).
    • View only your 1040 form: Select Tools. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu. This option is free and you can Preview your return before you file.
