Why is the system asking me if I want to file a waiver for an RMD when I started my RMD in 2024 when I turned 73?

MY 2024 RMD was from a deferred comp account. I met the requirements to start an RMD in 2024 when I turned 73. Why do I have to file a waiver?

    Review your 1099-R entry reporting your retirement distribution in the Income section.  

     

    In the follow-up questions, TurboTax will ask if all/part of your distribution was RMD.  You can indicate 'All'.

     

    The next screen should ask the amount of your RMD and you can enter your full distribution amount.

     

    You will then not need to file a Waiver.

     

    If you're using TurboTax Online, close the program, clear your Cache and Cookies and then go back to the 1099-R entry.
