withdrew 401k early

so i applied to withdraw my 401k early. it was approved and i received the check in january. so the check had the date of december 30th 2024 but i didnt receive it until january 2025, which i then deposited to my bank account. my question is would i have to report it on my taxes this year or until next year? i keep checking the account and havent seen any 1099 posted on there it only says no files at this time. any help is appreciated

If the check was dated December 2024, then it seems that the distribution was processed in 2024. This would mean that you should have a 2024 Form 1099-R reporting the distribution. Since you have not received one, you might want to call the plan administrator to get clarification about when the Form 1099-R will be issued.
