Without a 1099R can I compute the numbers necessary to complete the RMD form?

If you did not enter any of Forms 1099-R, it's difficult to get TurboTax to prepare the Form 5329.

Simplest would be to do it in forms mode (TurboTax CD/download program) or to prepare Form 5329 separately and include it with your mailed tax return.

If you prepare the Form in forms mode, be sure that it's still present when you are about to file.

In some situations, clicking the Continue button on the Your 1099-R Entries page will cause TurboTax to delete the information from Form 5329 Part IX.
