Working on PA state taxes. Have IRA distribution in 2016. Had premature distribution withholding deducted prior to receiving it. How do we claim it?

If you had an IRA distribution you should have received a 1099-R from the IRA custodian.  If you have not received your 1099-R then you should contact the custodian (broker/dealer or bank).  If you have the 1099-R, then to get to the section of the program where you enter it go to:

  • Click on Search
  • Type 1099-R in the Search Window
  • Click on "Jump to 1099-R"
  • Continue through the interview and enter your 1099-R or verify your entries

You enter your 1099-R in the Federal return section and it will flow through to your Pennsylvania State tax return.
