Can I link Form 1099-MISC Income to Schedule E

When doing the final review, I received an error message indicating that Form 1099_MISC worksheet is not linked to Schedule C or Schedule E. I have entered on the information from the 1099-Misc Form but the worksheet will not allow me to assign it to Schedule E as it is rental income.

It depends? What box is the income in on your 1099-misc? If the income is in Box 1 or Box 2, you can link it to Schedule E. If the income is in Box 3, you can't link it to Schedule E (C, F, and 4835 are your options). You should exit the review, delete the 1099-misc, and re-enter it. You can request a corrected 1099-misc, or move the income to the correct box and keep detailed records with your tax paperwork.
