Do I have to file if I received 1099 NEC?

The only income I earned this year is on this 1099 NEC and it is less than $12,950 that is the requirement to file.

If it was self-employment income you would be required to file to pay the self-employment taxes.

Income on a 1099NEC is self-employment income.   If you have even $400 of self-employment income you are required to file a tax return and pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare.  So, yes, you must file a tax return.

If you have self-employment income for which you will pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare,  you will need to use online Premium software or any version of the desktop software download so that you can prepare a Schedule C for your business expenses.
