I am trying to file my return and it’s forcing me to complete a 1099 NEC form which I do not have. I am self-employed, mostly doing freelance and gig work. So am I supposed to know the Social Security numbers of anyone who’s ever paid me cash? That would be absurd. I just don’t understand how I’m supposed to fill this form out? I Don’t recall having to complete this in previous years.

If you don't have a 1099-NEC then you don't need to fill that out.  There was a little tick box that asked if you had received the form.  You need to check that box with a 'no' so that you don't have to fill that out.

I do not recall seeing that question or a box to check about it anywhere at any point. Not sure if it’s because I’m not using the deluxe version…? But it’s when I do review that comes up as something. I must review, and there is no option to bypass the screen where I’m supposed to enter the 1099-NEC information.

Did you have a 1099NEC  last year that could have transferred over?  You need to try to delete it.
