I am a college student and received a monthly living stipend in addition to my scholarship. The organization issued a 1099-NEC for the stipend amount and when I enter it, I am prompted to enter self-employment information (business type, work done, etc) and I am taxed at the self-employed rate, but I am not self employed.

You missed a button. Go back and edit the form. Select it is not employee or self-employed income.
