Question

I received a grant from THREAD because the state of Alaska gave a grant to all childcare workers last year. It is not self-employment. How do I file?

Turbo Tax keeps making me claim as self-employment. It is not. It is simply a grant like the AK permanent fund

    If this grant should be reported in the same way as the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend, follow the instructions in this article according to the TurboTax version you are using: Where do I enter my Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (Alaska PFD)?

     

    This will report the income on Schedule 1 Line 8(g) and avoids the issue of self-employment.
