Question

Is a 1040 Sch C required if I do not own a business. I receive a stipend under $1000 for playing music for a church.

The church files a 1099-Misc every year.

    Yes, this income to you and should be included as Schedule C income. ‌For your business information you can use your name and address. You can also include any expenses you had that are related to this activity.  

     

    To report this on TurboTax:

     

    1. Open your return
    2. Go to Schedule C
    3. Answer Yes to Did you have any self-employment income or expenses?
