Do I need an invoice in order to claim self-employed expenses?

I paid a co-worker in my business without getting an invoice from him. I have an e-tranfer proof but no invoice. Is that valid?

    Yes, you should have an invoice for services rendered. As states by CRA on the business expenses page, you should have an invoice with the vendor's name and date.  

     

    Part 13.9. 22 of the CRA Income Tax Audit Manual states that expenditures without supporting documents should be disallowed unless there is other satisfactory audit evidence to support the amount.
