The GST number asked for in the return, and required by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), can be found on the receipt from the motel/airbnb, etc that you stayed at. This GST number is a must for the CRA to verify and accept the Staycation claim.
The Ontario Staycation Tax Credit is a refundable personal income tax credit for 2022 that can help families get back up to 20% of their eligible accommodation expenses in Ontario. Individuals can claim up to $1,000 and families can claim up to $2,000 to get back up to $200 as an individual or $400 as a family.
To claim these amounts when filing your return, select your version of TurboTax, then follow the instructions provided:
For TurboTax Online
Navigate to theProvincialsection of TurboTax using the side panel, and select the option forGet Started
On theLet’s walk through your provincial returnpage, selectContinue
On theNext, let’s enter your Provincial informationpage, selectContinue
On theYour Provincial Profilepage, check the box forNEW! Ontario staycation tax credit, then selectContinue
On the next page, enter your staycation expense amount, then selectContinue

The easiest way to enter these amounts into TurboTax is by utilizing Forms mode:
Navigate to the header and select the option forView, then selectForms methodfrom the dropdown menu
Once in Forms mode, select theFormsbutton on the footer menu, between the button for your name and the one labelled T-Slips
Select the option forT-1 Generalfrom the options that appear
Scroll down until you get tobox 47900, thendouble-clickit
This will openForm ON479, where you can enter the amounts you wish to claim toward your staycation credit
