Question

How can I leave more of my tuition from previous years unclaimed, to be able to claim it in a later year?

The amount auto-filled for this year is over $5000, and had flagged my return. I would like to claim less to avoid this.

    The amounts of unused credit are applied to reduce tax payable automatically. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) applies the available tuition amount carried forward every year to reduce your taxes to zero until it has all been used.
