Should I post RRSP contributions as 8000 minus 5000 as 3000, or the entire 8000?  The past employee T4 has RPP contributions mentioned for about 5000.

According to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), In most cases, you do not have to report any amount as income except for what's been contributed to the RPP. If your 8k has exceeded the contribution limit, however, you must include any excess amounts as income. Furthermore, considering your T4 only shows contributions of $5000, it must reflect the full amount you've contributed to your RPP this year of $8000. You may want to verify with your past employer, why the extra $3000 has not been reported. For more information, Check here: RPP Transfers.
