Is a Canada arts grant tax exempt for a full time student?

I received a Canada Council Arts Grant during the first year of my PhD studies.  I didn't make any money of the project, nor am I self-employed as an artist. Is the grant still taxable?

    Did you receive a slip with the amount of the grant? If so, you need to enter it on your income tax return. Depending on which box it is entered in, it will determine if it is tax-free.
