Why is the TurboTax free version telling me I need to upgrade when I want to transfer part of my tuition to a parent? All previous years, the transfer was possible with the free version, no need to upgrade.

TurboTax Online Free

Tuition transfer has not been included in the free version for a few years now. We also have had promotions in the past where people under 25 file for free regardless of which version they actually used, but that offer is no longer available.

Thank you kindly. I don't see the Transfer of tuition as a locked item, which means upgrade. Can you please clarify?

After you enter the details for the tuition transfer, you will be prompted to upgrade. Tuition Transfer is no longer covered by the free version.
