Hi, I wanted to ask something I was confused about. I recived a 1099 - NEC in VA for 2023 but I am a resident of Texas and live in Texas. I am a pilot and this was all contractor work for which I only flew in to VA to fly the plane to other states and then went back home in Texas. Also sometimes I fly the plane from other states and never step foot in VA. Do I have to pay taxes in VA as well.

Take a look at your 1099 for the year and look at box 5, 6 and 7.  If box 6 says 'Virginia' and box 7 has an amount in it then the state of Virginia has had the income reported to them as earned in Virginia.  Even more, if there is an amount in box 5 then taxes were withheld to pay Virginia taxes.  You will have to file a return to get those back.

If box 6 is blank or says 'TX' then you're good to go and no worries.
