1099-R Incorrect State Tax Withholding Sent to my State

Hello, I just had a problem with my State of Georgia Income Tax return that I filed using TT.

I received a letter from the audit division stating that the amount that TT e-filed with them was incorrect - in that the amount that was withheld as state tax was showing as -zero- versus the actual amount that is on my actual 1099-R. I entered all the information correctly at the time that I submitted my return using TT.

The letter from the audit division asked me to upload a copy of my 1099-R to them, which I did do. But now my return is in limbo as I await for them to look into the matter.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

You can see what you posted to your GA tax return if you have a copy.

On pages 3&4 there is a list of Income Statement Details

    1. It shows the Form (look for 1099)
    2. ID
    3. Employer EIN
    4. GA Wages
    5. and GA Tax Withheld

Please see what you posted to your tax return.

As I stated in my OP, all the information from my 1099-R was correctly entered into the TT fields when I e-filed my taxes. So yes, the correct amount of my GA withholding is shown on my TT documents. However, the GA DOR said in its letter that there was no GA withholding showing as being listed.

It depends. If needed, you can mail them proof that the 1099R you received was correct AND that you recorded this correctly in TurboTax.
