$15K MILITARY EXEMPTION IN MD - STATE FORM 502SU

The State of Maryland offers an exemption for the first $15k for the military pension.  This exemption is contained in MD State Form 502SU, and a code "U" needs to be inserted.  I do not see in TURBOTAX where/how to accomplish this.  Please advise.

If TURBOTAX cannot assist in this endeavor, then please advise how to unlink my MD State taxes from the Federal State taxes.  Then at least I can submit electronically the Federal Taxes, and I can accomplish the MD State taxes manually.

Thank you.

I'm not familiar with the MD software, specifically.  But the general rule (for state software)  is it's  there in the interview. Typically, a Page titled "Here's How Maryland handles income differently".  On that page, there should be a section called Retirement Income and a subsection called Military retirement Income.  Click the start button.

Unfortunately, you cannot e-file either Federal or state after Oct. 15, 2019.   Online filing and e-file ended on that date.  Tax returns can only be printed and mailed now.

Ok ... in the FEDERAL income tab where you entered the 1099-R you need to continue thru that section and indicate which state the retirement belongs to then in the state tab follow the interview to see if any extra entries are needed.
