2019 CA State Tax

Hi. I received a letter from CA FTB stating that I missed filing my 2019 state tax. Not sure where to start. I remember filing back in 2020 for 2019 tax, but not sure exactly if I did the state at that time as well. Any suggestion would be helpful. Thanks.

If the California Franchise Tax Board doesn’t have a copy of your return it means (1) you did not file one, (2) it got rejected and you never fixed it, or (3) FTB lost or never received it.

  1. Log into your TurboTax account
  2. Go to Your tax returns & documents at the bottom of the screen
  3. Select 2019
  4. Look for California.

In this example, a state return was never prepared. The federal return has no status because it was never printed or e-filed.

If you have a CA return and it is complete, you can print and mail it to FTB.
