2019: Mistakenly entered California - should have been Nevada.

Greetings -

In 2019 I mistakenly entered California as my State. Turbo Tax is sending me a notice to finish my CA State return.

I should have entered Nevada.

How do I change this on my 2019 Turbo Tax information documents?

Thank you.................louis

    We understand.

So when you were doing your 2019 Tax Year return, you told TurboTax that you lived in California, but you hadn't.

Now TurboTax is bugging you about filing the California State return for tax year 2019.

First and foremost, this is something you designated with TurboTax, NOT the IRS and NOT the state of California.

No one will bother you about this (since you never live in nor earned income attributed to California) besides TurboTax.

You can try going to the 2019 tax return (under "Your Tax Returns and Documents") and selecting "Add a State".

This might open the account. Once that is opened, you can edit needing California.

NV has no state income tax, so there will never be a NV state return for you to worry about.

No, you are not understanding what I am saying.

On my 2019 Turbo Tax information, I entered California as my State of residence.

Although this was a mistake (it should have been Nevada), California will ask why I did not file a CA State Tax form.

What I want to know, is how do I correct the original 2019 Turbo Tax filing???

As I mentioned, Turbo Tax has sent me a reminder to complete my 2019 CA Tax forms.

I have tried going into Turbo Tax, but cannot find the appropriate documents. I just keep going around in circles!!!  Thanks.....................cheers................louis
