2020 Tax Year - 1099-R Section - Where is this Distribution From?

I am filing a tax return for Tax Year 2020 and I am at the screen that refers to:  The 1099-R, Retirements and Investments.  The question is, "Where is this Distribution From?"

There are 3 options that I need to choose from, but I know that two of the options are not the type of investment that I need to enter the information. But, one of the options asks if it is a "Pickup Contribution."

Question 1:  How do I know if the Fidelity Investment is a "Pickup Contribution" or not?  Or, if I need to select the other option."None of the Above."

Question 2:  This same screen is also asking me for the, "Maryland Distribution Amount."  Should this be the same amount as the Gross distribution?

Thank you for your help!

1. Your 1099-R should normally have some sort of indicator if it is a pick-up contribution. See this Maryland webpage.

Note that in other years, taxpayers have noted that the 1099-R issued by the state doesn't match the TurboTax input screen, but I think you can tell which is which is you look for Pickup on the 1099-R.

If there anything in box 19?

2. "This same screen is also asking me for the, "Maryland Distribution Amount."" - was there nothing in box 16 on the 1099-R? Yes, the Maryland distribution is normally the same as the gross distribution, but that number should have been on box 16.

You might call the agency that sent you the 1099-R and ask them why there is nothing on box 16.
