Question

AL 40NR Schedule D

On AL Form 40NR Schedule D, I'm reporting the sale of a home in AL.  When I enter the home in section 2 which is for all transactions which are taxable in AL, Turbo Tax does not correctly populate the the AGI Earned in Alabama column.  It just shows zero which is wrong.

I went to the online fillable PDF form on the AL tax website, it shows it should be in the  this column as I owe taxes on sale of home.

When will you fix this?  If you don't fix it and I have to file manually, how do I get refund for buying AL state software which I can't use as it is incorrect.

If you'd like, we can look at your return and see exactly what you see to  help come to a resolution. The return will be scrubbed and won't include any of your personal details.

    If you're using TurboTax Online:

Once you're logged in to your account,

    - on the left hand panel, click on Tax Tools and then choose Tools

    - on the pop up window, select Share my file with Agent

    - you'll see a message saying you'll give us a copy of your tax return. Your personal information will be changed so we can't see any private information.

    - click okay and you'll get another message with a token

    If you're using TurboTax Desktop:

    • Click on Online in the top menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows
    • Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'
    • Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.
    • We can then review your exact scenario for a solution

Please reply to this message with your token so that we can further assist you. Let us know all other states, if any, that are included on the return.

I have Mac desktop, so your instructions are not helpful. Here is a screen shot of Schedule D Alabama 40NR.

The $10,000 gain from selling a house in AL should appear under column C which is AL income.  It only shows in column D.  I want a refund as I can't use AL turbo tax as it is wrong.

Let me help with that form and give your refund information. Follow these steps:

    1. Return to forms mode
    2. Put your cursor where the zero is on line 4
      • My program allowed me to enter the correct gain, my box has a little plus sign which means I can enter any number.
      • Command click and select override and enter the correct number.

If you need a refund, contact support.
